The rating is based solely on my experience with the product. I have big hands and ordered them in size L/XL. These gloves are actually big enough to fit me! The gloves are thin and very soft and reminded me of children's gloves. They are made from 3M Thinsulate so are warmer than I expected but still not enough for very cold weather. The wind goes right through them. A better description would be cold weather gloves. There is a special thin plastic on the palms and lining of the index finger, which allows you to better hold the phone and use the mobile phone. I don't normally need this feature, but I think it's nice to have it in today's world. an inch longer, which makes them flexible. There is an elastic band on the wrist to prevent cold air from blowing in. There is no water protection so if you get wet or use them in the snow your hands will get wet. Made in China. 100% polyester. 65% olefin, 35% polyester lining. Hand wash in cold water, dry flat.
