Review on 🚲 Delta Cycle Leonardo Bike Rack: Efficient Wall Mount Storage Solution for Easy Bicycle Access, Holds Any Bike Up To 40 lbs., Including Fat Tire Option by Beth Campbell

2 roads + 3 MTBs hanging in the garage. Add a strap for light wheels.

The husband decided it was time to outfit the garage, including placing 5 bikes from floor to wall. I looked at a number of options including pulley block ceiling racks and a variety of other weird options. This is by far the easiest, and since the alternating hangers are offset about 6 inches, they fit fairly snugly and are fairly easy to remove (although it's all relative - easiest on the floor or horizontally against a wall). Our mountain bikes with 2" and 2.25" tires fit perfectly. The hooks are very thick and you will need to mount them to a rack or 2 x 4 to some wall nails to keep them from being pulled out. I also think we decided to use longer screws to attach them than the ones that come with the hooks. My only objection to this type of suspension (and this applies to all similar suspension designs) is that the front wheel load when suspended is quite high since a significant portion of the bike's weight is on the wheel where it contacts the suspension and it is easy to damage the wheel or spoke over time. Less likely for an MTB wheel, but an issue for light and thin wheelsets. For my shiny new road bike with very light wheels, I added a long strap with an adjustable buckle behind the bars that hold the wheel (see photo). When I hang my bike, I wrap the strap diagonally around the seatpost and tighten it so that there is no (or minimal) weight on the wheel. If you do everything right, the bike will just fall off the hook. It's a bit of a cumbersome solution, but it works great and I think my wheel will stay true. Another option is to place a small bench just under the rear wheel to support the bike and carry more weight on it.
