My hamster got an eye infection and died

After using a few other bedding products I decided on this one because of the price and odor elimination. My hamster was as healthy as could be and a few days after the exchange his eye was infected and closed. This was unusual for a vet and I tried cleaning his eyes several times but to no avail. I think the infection spread because he was dying 2 weeks after the eye infection. I'm heartbroken and since he was healthy and I didn't change his food I would blame the bedding. (I've attached a video of my poor baby eye)
