I use it with a 100ml Purigen bag and can attest that the water in my 29 gallon container is not only perfectly clean but also free of any strong pungent odors. other media works great with the Penguin Biowheel 150. It's not too tall/wide and sinks to the bottom of the Penguin media chamber, allowing all the water to flow through your choice of mechanical media. I use Accurel Waste and Debris Reduction Media Pad, Matrix Carbon and Purigen in that order and am completely satisfied. Although it may take several days (4 days on my 29 L gallons) to see definitive results; Feel free to create your own filter material combinations to achieve the desired maximum effect.
