When replacing the battery in the factory original key fob, the plastic clip that secures the key head (top part of the key fob) to the transmitter (bottom part of the key fob) broke. I went to my Mazda dealership and was told I would need to order a brand new key fob and have it programmed along with having a new key cut. The total cost is approximately $300.00. The transmitter worked perfectly, as did the key. They just didn't stick together. For a year I used black tape to hold the two components together. I found this replacement keychain case and thought it was too good to be true. After reading the reviews and following the advice of other reviewers, I simply switched the electronics from my original key fob to the new one. The original has a Mazda logo on the key head. I carefully pry it out with a small jeweler's screwdriver. I was able to exchange my original factory key for a blank new fob. I swapped the chip next to the metal key from the old key fob for the new one. 20 minutes from start to finish. Tested the transmitter and key to make sure everything was working properly and it worked. Using a small dab of silicone, I attached the original Mazda logo to the key fob in the recess of the new key fob. fits perfectly. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants original factory quality for hundreds less than the original. This replacement keychain is exactly the same as my original in terms of weight, looks, fit and quality. MARVELOUS!
