For decades I had used the "vintage" plastic tinsel - the so-called icicles - but I've noticed how flimsy they've become, and as post-holiday discards they're just more junk in the waste stream. I thought I'd try glass "icicles," figuring they'd come in as a poor second in appearance, but after placing 36 of these 4-inch ornaments on my 7-foot balsam fir, I'm very pleased. They look delicate but are very sturdy and easy to handle, and the uneven texture beautifully reflects and refracts light. The monofilament hanger is nearly invisibly, compared to the white thread used on other brands. Also, they came very well packed, each in a separate pocket on a length of bubble-wrap, all in a closely fitted box.
