Works as described. I've only used it twice so far and the end result has been amazing. It smokes a little, but not much - the kitchen vent pulls it out. Cleaning is pretty easy - they don't mention cleaning the inside of the grill. Even if the grate and drip tray slide out, there are parts inside that need cleaning - at least they're easily accessible!
