Review on Enhanced Linksys WUSB11 Wireless-B USB Network Adapter v4 by Joseph Hall

I have trouble moving around the house with a laptop and a WPC11 (Linksys) PCMCIA card. The signal strength wasn't great. I found that tilting my laptop to the edge gave me a nice strong signal. This prompted me to research online and found this article:[.]About WEP and Antennas. I almost bought an antenna for my WAP11 device (Linksys) but decided to try WUSB11 first. I'm glad I did. The antenna price ($30-$60) is comparable, but the flexibility of the WUSB11 is preferable, I argued, when it works. Out of the box it's plug and play. The box contained: the device, a 6ft USB cable, an installation CD and a quick installation guide. I was ready to go in about 3 minutes (it took me a few of those minutes just to turn on my laptop!). It was so easy. Time involved configuring WUSB11 to interact with my SSID and WEP settings! Wow! Okay, now for the test: does it work better than WPC11. I started wandering around the house and except for a few outlying closets (very dark anyway) I got 50-80% signal everywhere! Antenna alignment is an essential factor for reception! I decided to do a more thorough test to see if it would work in my garage (away from home). The farthest corner of the garage is over 100 feet away and the signal must go through 3-4 interior walls, 1 exterior brick wall, and 1 wood-covered garage wall. Signal strength was 60%! My WPC11 had trouble registering there. Good, sold. I will be buying a few more of these so I can put computers around the house for the rest of my family and WITHOUT wiring. I highly recommend WUSP11.
