Plugged into a new Kenwood head unit and almost no bass from the RCA pre-ins to the sub! Literally no bass, no more bass than a regular small speaker. I even turned it to the maximum, the bass is barely enough to understand that it's on, but nothing can be heard in the car. Just to be sure I changed the RCA and even tried another channel with other RCAs but still no bass despite the unit glowing with power. Maybe it's a subwoofer or Kenwood? Well, the rest of the car speakers and separate amp played the Kenwood stereo perfectly, so now I'm trying out the high-level inputs on the Sound Ordnance. Boom. It works. Well amazing bass on this little guy, it's more like that! However, we still have a problem Houston - the thing is designed to run from RCA and an aux channel, otherwise it doesn't make sense if I can't control it from the head unit via the subwoofer RCA control. It remains to be seen whether it is a Kenwood with too little preamp output (volts) from the RCA, or are the RCA inputs on the Sound Ordnance defective? I know it's one of them. I'll try to post this review as I plan on installing another head unit to ensure I don't have to return this subwoofer. It's good value for money but I really need it to work with RCA outputs. Sequel follows.
