Review on Motorcycle Stainless Toolbox R1200GS Adventure by Andrew Burnside

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Failure of the loop clamp - dangerous.

The hinge (supplied in two mating pieces) that secures the front of the toolbox to the trunk broke after a 200 mile test drive with minimal use of tools. This is dangerous because the box can come in contact with the wheel while riding and you won't see a broken fork if you have a suitcase. Such a box would not withstand a long drive with off-road sections. The back door was also unscrewed - it easily unscrews from the vibration, so the rope is really necessary. The surveyor also had to set 2 more connection points. Suggest the manufacturer add more security points and upgrade the included cheap loop clips. This crate is dangerous when driving past a local coffee shop. Wouldn't recommend this to anyone who rides enough to have tools on their bike.

Pros
  • understandable even for the old ones
Cons
  • Low repairability
