Review on Emerson Ceiling CF784GES Adaptable Espresso by Jessica Morris

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good but a few issues

Disclaimer: I purchased this item with my own money so expect this review. Overall, this is a high quality 60 inch fan. Brushed steel looks great. The metal was of the highest quality. There are several problems. Problem 1 is speed. Features a 3-speed traction chain for changing speeds. High completely cools a large room with little noise. This is comparable to the averages of my other 52" fans. I was surprised that the 60" fan didn't go higher. The average was comparable to the low of a regular 52" fan. You almost don't feel the wind . The low level is a joke. There is no wind at all. Check out my attached video to see. UPDATE: In the video, the fan was switched in reverse (up) direction. Running forward I get the best wind. Me sorry for the error.problem 2 concerns the attachment of the fan blades. The wooden blades have four screws that attach to the metal hub of the blade.I tightened them really tight but once the fan was installed I found that some of them were loose. I tightened them again. Again later. The wood seems to be warping and they need to be tightened. This is bad technique. Too much level play. They need a g here butted spacers to ensure better anchoring/alignment of the wood (like other brands do). You need to fully assemble the fan before installation, so the installation is more difficult than other brand fans. Problem 3. Equilibrium. The fan was unbalanced and swayed violently. It took me an hour to attach all three weights from the included balance kit. It still wasn't perfect. Problem 4. Noise. There was a creak. I'll try to attach a video I made here so you can make some noise here. It comes and goes, seems to get better. UPDATE: The noise was caused by a scratch on the wiring harness inside the engine. Pull the wire harness down away from the engine to secure. Now shut up. Problem 5. Non-standard suspension. Emerson has a .84" diameter shank, while all others use a 1" diameter shank. You can only use Emerson rods and they are not available at hardware stores. Issue #6: Does not come with the SW46 wall mounted speed controller as per Revain's description. Honestly, that's Revain's fault, not Emerson's.
