I have been putting together 72hr emergency car bags for my family. In the event of some emergency we will likely all be in different locations and could need a variety of items. I wanted a least two sources to ignite fuel for cooking or heat. I went with waterproof matches and these magnesium /flint starters. I received the product quickly and as described. I have never used magnesium or flint to start a fire in my life, a true newbie. I figure I better know how to use it. So after the product arrives, outside I go to start my fire. I read the directions and use cotton balls with petroleum jelly for tinder. After a few tries with the striker, I have created spark and my tinder is on fire. I was amazed and a little proud, since I actually bought a product that works, is a great value and as a middle aged women did it ! I feel very confident that the product will work if I need it! Now I just need a little experience on keeping the fire going, starting it was the easy part. I am a firm believer if you might need it you better know how to use it! Thanks for the great product!
