I have had more trouble training my recent adoption of a Manchester Terrier (as a puppy) than training all three of my previous dogs together. I even sent this dog to a trainer which was a huge failure. Don't let anyone tell you that negative reinforcement shouldn't be done. These collars are negative reinforcement and a problem dog will recover in just a few weeks or less with negative reinforcement. She would have run into the yard if she hadn't robbed the house and wreaked havoc. I can say I've used the shock button less than a dozen times in five months, with decreasing frequency over time. The tone button is the one I use the most, and in most cases it works on the first press. I went back to buy a double collar version of this purchase to accommodate our older dog. Also, I destroyed the first collar by accidentally touching one of the shock connectors with the charging connector. Our little dogs don't need a screw and clamp, but they don't hit as hard without them.
