Nice enough but with big problems (update)

UPDATE. OMG what was I thinking? I have never returned here to update my review but am again looking for a watch to replace and found I got this 4 stars. Ha. I'll be brief, but all those little annoyances that I thought I could live with have turned into an awkward, unreliable topic here. The noise went away after 3 months. It didn't perform well initially, as mentioned, but it got so loud even on level 1 that I taped off every speaker hole I could find and the whole back panel. I'm talking about 1/4 inch thick. Previously, levels 1 and 2 were so quiet you couldn't hear them, but level 3 would have slammed you into a wall. Had to crank it up to maximum for days, weeks at a time to hear anything, and then at 4am in the morning. When you think you're safe in bed, the radio turns on so loud that my cat quickly hides under the couch. As others have said, it's either too bright or too bright. Or you turn off the lights and rely on overhead projection. What will your fun job be at 4am. To find him, because even a sneeze on this simple watch will move her. It takes a mechanical engineering degree to install or program, and touching EVERYTHING changes, messes up and triggers the domino effect of change. If you buy this, laminate the instruction manual with any notes and diagrams added in the margin and hang it on a strong chain next to the clock. Ask an octopus friend on speed dial to help you press, hold it while pressing like this 6 times while standing on one foot and hum "oh Canada" to set the alarm. :) complete rubbish which I gave up with relief to make it work and threw it away. Original post. Bought this after buying 2 other AM/FM clock radios that were "inexpensive" but really horrible things. Basically I was looking for a radio alarm clock with a sleep timer and AM radio. This watch was a bonus with a time projection feature, two alarms and 10 preset channels - didn't know that meant you got 5 for AM and 5 for FM but overall it's still nice to have. There are many of these and as I would expect the programming on most watches of this type can be confusing and easily jumbled as each button has multiple functions related to setting. This clock wasn't all that bad to set up. But you definitely need the operating instructions and I had to look them up several times. This watch is very light, which is one of the problems. I keep it on my bedside table and use it mainly for listening to the radio at night (I have terrible tinnitus) and setting a timer for 90 minutes. Sometimes I just leave it on all night, low One problem is that if you click the sleep timer again, you move all the clocks, which then move to where you place the time projection. I never know where it ended up because it only moves when I touch the watch. All buttons have a dual purpose of setting the clock. They perform a series of actions when the clock is "off," and when the clock is "on," the buttons become a different set of options. I haven't gone a week without messing up the presets, making copies of what I have, or maybe installing static presets because if I have my #1 AM station and want to skip it, you have to have #1 2 through #10 to come back to this one. When you're half asleep at 3am amazing things happen with this watch's settings and touch this and that. Then two issues quickly got on my nerves but it could be this watch. I do not know. I have it on volume 1, which is quiet but not very quiet, and at various times of the night it gets loud enough to wake me up for no reason. However, I clean it up and set it to volume #8, let's say it's not much louder than #1 at this point, and louder at times. It got so bad I took duct tape and sealed most of the side speaker and the entire rear speaker. It was too loud. Since you have to use their volume controls and they increase the number all at once, you can't adjust it up or down a bit - you're stuck with their presets. The dial is attractive. and has 3 modes - bright, silent and off. The background is blue, which is nice, but again I found the light setting too bright. He woke me up several times as I rolled over in bed and was face to face with him (I'm about 3ft from the watch) . The dimmer settings were the same, but I just turned the clock away from me to fix it. Then you cannot see the clock, but you can rely on the projection time to indicate it. I've been struggling with it like an alligator almost every day because something changed or I changed something or I forgot it had to be off or on for that, so I just use it as a radio. . Clicking the button above turns it on. light enough. The volume buttons and preset buttons are on the front under the watch face, so this is where you either press the watch or press it unless you grab it with both hands to lock it in place. After 2 weeks of readjusting, fixing things, tipping the projection clock or taping off the speakers I just gave up, live with it and now only use it for my kitchen radio. If you are more patient or learn all the steps and buttons faster than me, they packed a lot of features into one small watch.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires socket
