I bought this unit hoping it would configure itself as nowhere in the description does it say to use a CD to add drivers. Another disadvantage is that you have to disable the firewall and antivirus. This is unacceptable. And what laptop has a CD drive these days. Therefore you will need an external CD reader to install the drivers for this to work. After all this was done, I successfully downloaded FORScan and this device didn't read anything. I highly recommend looking for a genuine OBD PLUG and PLAY ELM327 reader. It could possibly be a defect, in any case my experience with this product was less than satisfactory as it did nothing as the description says.
