Review on πŸ”Œ Premium EZSync USB FTDI CT-42 Cable for Yaesu FT, VX, and FTH Series Radios | FTDI Chip | 3.5mm TRRS Audio Jack | EZSync718 by Bryan Fields

Ideal for programming an old Yaesu FT-50R HT with chirp.

The driver is automatically installed for a Windows 10 (or 11?) PC, proving that this programming cable actually has an official Prolific chip as stated in the description and not a fake. Please note that after the first cable connection I had to reboot my computer to load the changes from the Chirp program into HT. Before rebooting, I got an error about Ack-Block 1 when trying to upload it to the radio. A single restart of the PC after the automatic installation of the Windows driver solved the problem. Follow the instructions in Chirp to put the FT-50R in CLON(e) and WAIT modes for charging and discharging from/to the radio. Make sure you download from the radio first and then update presets/channels as needed. I previously bought a 6-in-1 programming cable that was supposed to fit the FT-50R, but it didn't work at all for this radio. . The other cable worked for the Baofeng UV-5R so I kept it. There are no instructions for it, but it's well built and more importantly, it works. Please note that the FT-50R HT does NOT have a 4-pin threaded speaker and microphone connector like the newer Yaesu radios. So this cable was the right one for the FT-50R.

  • USB cable
Cons
