I bought this with the intention of replacing my 120GB hard drive in my PS3. When I found out I needed to download a system update to the memory card from the PSN site, I was finally able to get the hard drive to boot up and format it in PS3. Suggestion for others trying this. DO NOT try to format the hard drive before inserting it into the PS3. You're wasting disk space every time you try, because the hard drive saves DOS information every time, reducing disk space. You must then go to a professional to remove each additional DOS attempt from the hard drive so that you have all the free space. But also as a reminder for those who want to bring it to the PS3. It works and works great. Note, however, that you need at least a 1GB memory card formatted with FAT32. Visit the Sony Entertainment/PSN website, look for the latest "System Update" download in the support area and follow the instructions given to create the correct directory on your flash drive for the PS3 can recognize it. You can then either download all of your game data again or, if you have a free drive to create a backup file on another FAT32 formatted hard drive, simply restore the information from that onto a new hard drive. at ps3. Those of us who didn't know we lost everything and need to do everything all over again which really sucks and in my case it took over 7 days to get everything back.
