I've given this product many shots

I've had at least three of these incredibly affordable hard drives. I bought them to install on my ThinkPad T420. The first took a while, almost a year. Then the next failed six months later. Then the next one failed after 2 months. I got very, very good at backing up all my files and reinstalling my operating system because I learned that with this drive you're pretty much going to have to take a guess at failure. But I was fed up with that last failure and decided to buy a replacement SSD…

  • Western Digital WD Scorpio Black 2.5" 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drives offer desktop-level performance and energy efficiency

Excellent Laptop Hard Drive

I purchased this drive to increase my MacBook Pro's internal storage from the original 500GB to a larger capacity and increase file transfer speeds to and from a standard hard drive. The first step in this upgrade was to install a replacement Western Digital WD Scorpio Black 750GB 7500rpm hard drive into the StarTech External Hard Drive Enclosure. Then I formatted the WD drive and partitioned it into two volumes, one of which contains OS X 10.6 Mavericks, which I'll try to see if it's worth…

Pros
  • 7200RPM and 16MB Cache keep your laptop running smoothly.
Cons

High Expectations PS3

I bought this with the intention of replacing my 120GB hard drive in my PS3. When I found out I needed to download a system update to the memory card from the PSN site, I was finally able to get the hard drive to boot up and format it in PS3. Suggestion for others trying this. DO NOT try to format the hard drive before inserting it into the PS3. You're wasting disk space every time you try, because the hard drive saves DOS information every time, reducing disk space. You must then go to a…

garbage. I bought one from Revain last year and it came from UBestDeals. I bought it to use as a Time Machine on a Macbook. It never worked. A full backup is not performed. Part of the path through the backup is blocked. Tried many times. I've been a technician for over 30 years and I know what I'm doing. Wouldn't recommend it. Go with Toshiba. This is the second time I'm giving a star. Maybe UBESTDEALS sold me a defective drive. I didn't want to return it as my computer had already backed up…

2009 Macbook Pro Reliable Update

My wife's mid 2009 Macbook Pro was sluggish even though the original 500GB drive was a 7200rpm model. Checking System Preferences > Serial-ATA showed that the factory drive was only connected at a negotiated connection speed of 1.5 Gigabit, which is half of the potential 3 Gbps. This has been pointed out by many on the Apple forums, and expert responses have noted that standard drives cannot even achieve 1.5 gigabits of bandwidth. but. This easy-to-install WD drive connects at a maximum…

7 years later and still works like a charm!

I bought this hard drive to replace my standard Macbook Pro hard drive (when that was still possible). It was almost plug and play, I just had to copy the OS to get it working on the new computer, but it works great! My Macbook is a bit worn but the hard drive is still in it and I'm actually writing this review on the machine. It has stood the test of time. The hard drive is not noisy at all and really is a quality machine. I would definitely buy a Western Digital hard drive again.

Pros
  • Capacity up to 320GB
Cons
  • Long delivery time

COMPATIBLE WITH XBOX 360 (Cracked)

I bought this for a (thick) XBOX 360 to replace a 120GB hard drive. I reused a 120GB drive cage and 320GB fits in. Since we lost all our data due to a bad transfer prior to purchasing this WD drive, we had to re-download all the games (well over 100GB). It lasted 3 days with the Xbox working most of the time. All the games downloaded and installed on the hard drive without any problems. If you are thinking of upgrading your Xbox hard drive with this OEM drive, please note that this is NOT plug…
