Wonderful Soft Ice Cream

We tried two different types of desserts in this ice cream maker. We first made German chocolate ice cream from a recipe I found on the allrecipes website. Served soft is the best description, and then it hardens even more in the freezer. Don't expect ice cream to set any firmer than a soft portion. If you want hard ice cream with scoops, you have to leave it in the freezer for a few hours. Very creamy, practically without ice crystals. We also made ice for espresso using the recipe in the instructions that came with the coffee maker). It didn't freeze like you might think of "ice". It was more of a mud. The machine stalled due to the formation of ice on the drum wall, what to do so as not to break the knife and burn the motor. But we had to scrape the ice off the sides and mix it with the slush in the middle. It tasted good, it just wasn't "ice cream". I'd say if you're using it solely for ice cream it's a great ice cream maker, but don't count on it for making other types of desserts. Love the top it comes with so you can just pop the ice drum straight into the freezer to harden. The spatula design stirs ice cream really well, one of the best I've seen. There are also many recipes that come with the instruction booklet in case you don't know what to cook. I would also recommend the Ben and Jerry's ice cream recipe book. Very good recipes.
