My car didn't have a backup camera and after reading an article about how a father hit his kid I decided it was really necessary and did a little research to install it myself to install. There is a Cars & Driver YouTube video on how to install a backup camera, but every car is a little different. So before you buy anything I would suggest checking your car and imagining how you would put it all together. I spent a total of $100 to make this happen: Morris Products 10772 Quick Splice Connector, Red, Wire Range 22-18 - it worked great! The tricky part is making sure the wire is in the right places before pinching it with pliers. After everything is lowered, the wire is very tight there. I used this to hook up the power from one of the backup lights on the trunk. E-PRANCE New Car Door Clip Panel Audio Video Dashboard Removal Kits Installer Pry Tool - I couldn't have removed that stupid trunk lid trim without this tool and a small flat head screwdriver. The bootlid trim is held in place by 8 black round plastic clips and to remove them without damaging the round plastic clips you will need to use a flathead screwdriver to find where to press by feeling under the clip. The position is found when you can stick the Flathead deeper than elsewhere. The two sides are usually vertical or horizontal and once you've found them, just insert a screwdriver and one of the very narrow but flat pins to pry them out! INNOVA 3300 Hands-free digital multimeter (10 Mฮฉ) where you get the power supply for the LCD screen. I didn't like this for a car because the pin isn't narrow enough to fit in a really tight spot. Eskyยฎ EC170-09 Waterproof High Sensitivity Color CMOS Black Aluminum Alloy Universal Car License Plate Frame Mount Rearview Camera - The camera is really nice and the frame too. There are built-in distance indicator lines that cannot be removed. The fisheye camera lens is also very good. My only issue is that there doesn't seem to be a way to stop the camera from spinning freely other than sticking a wire out to stop it. Cable length is also a small issue; It was fine for my car as it's the right length to go through the plastic of the license plate light. But I see a problem if it should be longer. 4.3 inch LCD TFT rear view monitor for car backup camera. I wish the wires coming out of the LCD were a lot longer, but they aren't. The picture is very accurate in its picture, so this is not a problem. Wireless 2.4G Color Video Transmitter and Receiver for Rear/Front Camera - Works very well in a short distance from regular car. However, the transmitter heats up very quickly and I'm afraid it might break due to the amount of heat generated. . I'm scared if and when it will break as I don't like the idea of going back to fix it. ****1 Installation on a 2015 Volvo S60 ****1) Tried 20 minutes only to open the trunk lid. Paste is turned off. The black clips were really hard to remove but once I figured it out it was just a process of getting to the edge of the clips and pushing them in the right direction. There's also a plastic trunk lock shell that's removed right away. Trunk holder with two plastic clips that had to be pushed hard from the back, which I didn't do right (and broke the clip). Trunk release handle attached to a steel cable that required some finesse to remove. 2) 10 minutes to unscrew the license plate light. I needed a custom torx screwdriver and it was almost the wrong size. In the end it came out easily once all the screws were loosened. 3) 30 minutes to connect the *CORRECT* 2.4GHz transmitter to the license plate cam and slide it in the trunk. It is nice that the transmitter has plugs for powering the camera and for receiving 1 yellow RCA channel. So I had to stretch the transmitter cable through the license plate light into the trunk. Then, to power the transmitter, I found a red/black wire for the reverse light on the left side of the trunk lid. My wife had to drive over to put the car in reverse so I could check which cables to use. I used cable splicers, very fast! 4) For the front panel, I attached the LCD screen to the dashboard, routed the cable to the side, and connected the power lines to the car cigarette lighter adapter. I used an old car cigarette adapter that I no longer use, cut the wires, stripped and spliced everything together. Now I have a backup camera for only $100!
