A few months ago my wife and I had a catastrophic basement flood. We are currently renovating our finished basement and working on additional water mitigation measures, but contractors are several months behind schedule due to COVID. We don't want another water problem in our basement so we took this sluice and installed it at the base of our outside stair case into the basement. The construction shows that it is a reservoir. It fits in the door very securely and seems to last quite a while. This is a permanent structure in front of our door until we can install another water barrier. For now we feel safe having it in place to avoid major water damage while we wait. It's a little pricey, but it's very high quality and a price I'd happily pay to avoid another five-figure disaster.
