They smell
I bought these for my 5 year old who loves to spell words while playing with letters on the floor. These smell horrible. Yes it is foam but not suitable for children. I spent several hours cutting holes in the letters for the child to see. Then I laid out the letters on a sheet in the garage to dissipate the smell. I am currently looking for another writing product. Unfortunately I can't recommend them for children but for an adult they can be great.
