Great alternative to Sonax or Wolfgang. smells amazing

I used to admire the Sonax. I would buy it for friends and family who take care of their cars because it was awesome. However, when I bought my Porsche, which produces an insane amount of brake dust and is washed weekly, I wanted to try to get a little more mileage for my money. The Griot rim cleaner works just as well as Sonax and Wolfgang, you get more product for your money and you don't get the Sonax stench burning your nose. actually smells pretty good. Works great, smells great and you…

  • Pleasant to use

  • So far so good

Expected more based on the reviews and reputation of Griot.

I've been using Griots for many years. After a long search for a great rim cleaner, it turned out to be just that! It seems to offer more than most but had to use most of the entire bottle on normally soiled brake dust bikes (Porsche and BMW). It's definitely not a spray and rinse. You still need to clean the wheels with a sponge or brush. The inner wheel hubs didn't get much cleaner than they did before steering, even when cleaned and wiped down. Like I said, I had to use quite a bit of it…

Not bad, works well and is a good price

This product works pretty well and probably works for most people, the main reason I bought it was because it was cheaper than the Sonax Wheel Cleaner Plus and they seem to have the same active effect. an ingredient that turns purple on contact with brake dust. The problem is that it doesn't perform as well as the Sonax. It's still a good price and I'll probably buy it again because I don't always need a deep clean and only use this type of cleaner about once a month (I regularly use cheaper…

Great cleaner that needs a better sprayer

I've tried several rim cleaners over the years and this is my favorite. I have a BMW car and they have been known to spit massive amounts of brake dust. Whenever I wash my car, I use it on my wheels. I apply it fairly liberally, wait a few minutes, brush the rims with a Griot Wheel Cleaner (also great) and rinse off. There have only been a handful of occasions when I have had to step back over a stubborn patch of mud. It effortlessly leaves consistently clean wheels. Plus, the residue easily…

Pros
  • Handy item
Cons
  • No effectiveness

The best rim cleaner I've ever had.

Before I bought it I used Sonax (230200-755) Wheel Cleaner Full Effect - 16.9 fl. ounce and it works great don't get me wrong. but almost $1 an ounce is a bit pricey. The smell isn't the best either and I don't want to inhale it. I did a lot of research and wanted to buy the AMMO NYC Plum Wheel Cleaner but the shipping cost was crazy. Through research, many people on Reddit and other forums seem to agree that AMMY NYC Plum was renamed Griots simply due to smell and reaction. Here I ordered a…
