I teach the Emotional and Behavioral Specialty and some of my students have multiple disabilities. There are 7 students in my class, all but one write the whole page. One of them named "K" cried, knocked over desks, sucked his thumb or cleared the table when he had to write every day. It took a day to get him to try; another day of support, and on the third page, I'm not making this up, K came to school with his little pocket pad and pen and said before he started writing (Chenny) he had to do his 'own letter' - in his notebook. Clean, clear and in one line! Then, after looking like a spy with his little notebook, he sat down and finished his class letter (Channi's page) with determination and satisfaction. THIS ARTICLE REDUCES NON-ADAPTIVE BEHAVIOR and promotes calm, task-oriented behavior. I wasn't sure but I read the reviews and can honestly say those moments of success are why I teach.
