We're not comfortable.
Think how far you can carry your board. Extra time buckle up, buckle up, get in, then unbuckle up and take it with you, then all back to the car, it's not worth it. Also, you're still holding a giant paddle board against your body and the shoulder strap wants to slip off. It might be ok for a day at the beach, but it's just too much extra effort just to get to the water and paddle for 2-3 hours.
