Review on Spot SPOT TRACE 01 Trace Orange Small by Andy Baudoin

Simply put, this is the worst purchase of my life. The following points are worth emphasizing: 1) You don't need this device because (a) it's useless for security purposes (more below), (b) for location tracking purposes, there are apps that work much better for a lot less money (like the Rever- app, the Garmin app, even Google Maps); 2) Battery: After 1 week of continuous use (needed to be charged every day by the way), the battery stopped working; 3) Without a battery, the device needs to be plugged in - to charge you have to unscrew two screws, which is annoying. Also, the connection is not waterproof; 4) Reception: terrible - there can't be anything between this device and the sky, otherwise it won't work. So if you look at (3) + (4) = water destroys device5), if you're a subscriber paying Spot $$$ every month, your location will be removed from the site after 30 days, which is ridiculous. The data is only available in the phone app, which just means you can visualize it on its map, but you can't do anything with the information. Conclusion: This is an enormous waste of space and money. Companies should be ashamed of selling a device that is more than 10 years old for this money. Don't be a coward!
