USB 3.0 ports on modern laptops offer easy access to high-speed data transfers, but there aren't many of them. I have two USB ports on my laptop, which makes it difficult to work with an external CD drive, flash drive, and backup SSD. Throw in the mic and external speakers you need for a decent Zoom call and it's nigh on impossible. Apanage's 8-port powered hub makes it easy. Ports are individually switchable so you can turn your devices on and off as needed, and the single non-switchable smart charging port is perfect for when you need power during a long work session. It has all the features I need at a very reasonable price.
