Like many of you here, I was looking for a replacement lava lamp bulb. The label on the bulb said not to use anything other than a 20 watt bulb and this is obviously a 25 watt bulb. I can report that although it is "hotter" it hasn't given me any problems so far. Someone else suggested drilling some vent holes around the base of the bulb. I've monitored the lamp base closely for signs of melting or burned plastic and so far so good. In the absence of a better alternative, I will be using them for the foreseeable future. YMMV, so keep an eye on your bulbs the first few times you use them, just to be sure.
