This Orthomen Air Gel Ankle Brace works like a champ for me. The suspender consists of two black plastic outer sleeves with gel-air pads attached with Velcro to the inside of each sleeve. The two black plastic sleeves are connected at the bottom by an adjustable heel strap - there is Velcro at each end of the heel strap so it can be lengthened if needed. At the top and center of the outside of a plastic case are large 2 inch wide straps that are attached to the plastic case with rivets at one end. The bottom half of the outside of this sleeve has a 1" Velcro strip that runs down the rest of the sleeve. The outside of the other black plastic sleeve has two short 1" Velcro strips at the top and center and a long 1" strip at the bottom -Velcro strips. Applying a bandage is very easy. Step on the heel strap and lift the plastic on either side of the ankle while holding the green gel pads on the inside of each sleeve towards the ankle and calf. When the inner gel and If the outer plastic sleeves do not fit snugly around the ankle and calf, the heel strap may need to be lengthened slightly until it does. While holding the plastic sleeves at the ankle and calf, take the 2" straps and fasten them around the two sleeves and secure them with velcro to keep them in place.I tried the top strap first and then the attaching the bottom strap and tried it the other way around and didn't seem to care which strap I fitted first. Continue to tighten or loosen each strap as needed until the brace is secure but not uncomfortable. A sock to make it a little softer. When walking barefoot, the plastic dug into the sole of the foot a bit, but the bandage offered enough stable support. After putting on the tennis shoes, I stopped digging into my foot. leg and was great to walk in all day. After I took my shoes off, I still didn't notice my foot digging in, so maybe walking "soomed" her a bit. thicker socks might have prevented the initial problem, but I could have always worn a t-shirt. Air slippers inside to prevent this as well. After adjusting the orthosis, I no longer had to adjust it during the day. The velcro held everything securely right where I first installed it. This brace is very easy to put on and take off and I am very happy with its comfort and the amount of ankle support it gives me. It supports my ankle but doesn't immobilize it, so it doesn't interfere with my walking, sitting, or even driving. This ankle brace is currently available for $23.69 which I think is a good price and I'm glad I ordered it.
