Reading some reviews I noticed that some of you don't understand that a digital phone is not the phone you use at home and it will NOT work with one analog signal you have at home. In fact, a digital phone is not a phone at all, it is actually a terminal that is programmed via a computer. Digital phones work exclusively with a phone system such as IP-Office, Definity, etc. These types of systems use a digital signal to convert voice and data into understandable information much faster than the flow of information in a straight line. Analog data is basically a wavy sound wave that moves up and down and is much slower. A digital phone will not work in an analog environment, and an analog phone will not work in a digital environment. They don't speak the same language. The phone system usually has special analog cards as part of the system to allow faxes and modems to work in your office. these types of devices are almost always analog. A solid, well-built, easy-to-use workhorse, the 6408-D (D stands for digital) is a great phone for any voice-only digital office. This is not a suitable phone for home use or even for many small offices which typically have few phone lines and will not work there. To do this you need a POT (simple phone) that uses POTS (simple phone signal), yes POTS stands for just that. I hope this mini-tutorial clears up some of the confusion.
