It has a triangular shank section where it sits in the chuck so it's much less likely to rotate in the chuck and become damaged. I keep a utility file next to the drill case to file off the burr that forms when the drills get stuck and the chuck can't hold them and the drills spin freely. These Bosch drills will be my choice in the future. They have a non-standard tip grid geometry that can be better or worse in terms of drilling motion in metal. I usually use a pointed punch to make the starting hole, so it's not that big of a deal.
