Review on 🧩 Unleashing Boundless Creativity: Magna Tiles Play Book by Daryl Barton

Big Money: Parts & Hardware

This book costs a lot of money and doesn't really offer enough to justify the cost. There is no section with the names of the different types of figures and the sets they come in - for example we don't have these 1/4 circles to make hearts and we don't know how to buy several of them . The beginner building section shows you how to build numbers and letters. Throws out 3-4 numbers, which is barely enough. Then he has the kids build about 6 things and without those 1/4 circles you can't make two of them. The rest of the book is more like searching the internet for inspiration. I will not do science projects because other materials would be a better choice. It mentions that you can use tangram puzzle tiles (so you can use all those tangram books), but the book doesn't tell you what kind of magnetic tiles you need to build tangram sets. After all, the book teaches no methods other than building a bow in the colors of the rainbow. In general everything is fine. I think if I had paid less than $10 I would have been fine but for $25 I was expecting A LOT more and honestly it should have been more. If you're selling an expensive toy, you really need to put a lot of effort into the book so that teachers and parents see the value of the investment.

Pros
  • The Magna-Tiles Playbook is perfect for STEAM-loving kids and families looking for a fun way to play together, as well as anyone ready to get creative!
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
