Review on Sharp Pebble Sharpening Waterstone Whetstone by Chris Ledet

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Confused in all ratings

I have been a sailor and sea captain for many years. Although the knives on the boat aren't always the biggest, they stay sharp. I got some new knives for my kitchen and wanted to update the way I keep them sharp. I thought it would set them up well. I watched the video and unpacked the stone. (The box was damaged when I opened the Amazon bag which was perfect. The damage was before packing.) The stone was fine but the guide was missing. However, this does not violate the terms of the contract. I took my 9" handle which was very sharp but wanted to polish it. After soaking the stone for over 20 minutes I started sharpening. The thin side of this stone was rated 6000. It looked like soap. The stone wore out quickly and my blade cut into the stone as I rotated the blade the stone became like a paste (as opposed to the paste I developed with oil or other water stones) cleaned the stone and left. Two days later I tried to sharpen the same knife. I tried rotating the stone to avoid sharpening in one spot and the stone is still almost muddy. The blade became noticeably duller. My dad sharpens his pocket knives the bottom of his ceramic teacup and holding a razor sharp edge said the stones were rubbish don't understand all the positive reviews unless the products are different good luck with your purchase I felt mi ch guilty and tried to sharpen another knife. I found that I had the same results and after two knives the stone should be completely worn away. Both knives need to be sharpened. Very disappointed
