As good as Kahtoola micro lugs - maybe even better

We bought these as we will be riding in snow/ice this coming winter. We used to buy REI Kahtoola micro spikes for $65 and they worked really well on the ice, but that's a lot of money for something we rarely use. So we tried the $16 Sharkmouth version. We haven't used the Sharkmouth in real life, but we've physically compared the two brands and also run the Sharkmouth on dry ground, and the Sharkmouth is very similar to the Kahtoola in every way: metal, rubber. , reinforced protrusions around the junction of metal and rubber. In addition, the Sharkmouth has 3 cleats on each cleat (compared to Kahtools 2) and the Sharkmouth also has a metal bar on the front of the toe to prevent the two chains on the toe from separating and the rubber toe on the toe from tearing . Kahtoola has a tough piece of hard plastic in a rubber toe box - not sure which method will be more durable over time) and Sharkmouth comes with velcro straps to tighten the rubber on the top of your foot to keep the chains in place and secure position. and prevent slipping, which should provide a more reliable grip. Finally, the Kahtool comes in a small nylon case that's handy for storage (and light for hiking), but the nylon gets wet quickly if you put the chains away wet, while the Sharkmouth has a nifty zippered "hard" case that simpler and easier is use a nylon pouch and it looks like it does a much better job of keeping your wet micro studs from getting wet in everything else after you take them off and put them in your purse, backpack or whatever . (Just remember to dry them off when you're done with the day.)
