The box was marked 'new' as described by the seller. This laser brought my PS3 back to life! Very happy to find this seller selling NEW lasers for PS3. Hope it lasts longer. However, PS3 lasers seem to be prone to failure so I will probably need to replace the laser again in a few years to keep the PS3 library alive. This is the second time I've replaced the laser in our PS3. I swapped it out for the first time about 15 months ago. After I bought it I found it was used, possibly removed from a PS3 that was being sold for parts. It failed after just 15 months. The laser install went smoothly and worked right out of the box (I was right - the installer). If you're the kind of person who can take things apart, then you can. Simply place all the screws and parts on the fabric and lay them out in a pattern similar to what you found in the assembled system. Previous knowledge of game consoles is not required. Just watch the YouTube video before you start. Installation time for the first time: approx. 90 minutes. Duration of the last installation: 45-60 minutes.
