It wasn't obvious until I tried it, but you can only fill half of the ball with tea leaves using a spoon. Think about it, this is essentially a hemispherical container with a hemispherical lid. And a lid of any shape that isn't flat is stupid because you can't attach anything to the lid as gravity will cause the leaves to fall off when you try to close the lid. The only way to fill the entire sphere is if you have a large bag of tea leaves. In this case, you can "dip" the open strainer into the leaf bag and squeeze a good chunk of tea leaves between the halves. I've done this and it's a chore because you get too many leaves and the screen won't close until you've removed the right amount. As a reminder, you cannot put this on the table when filling as it does not have a flat bottom and is therefore unstable; and you have a lot of wasted space inside the lid that isn't being used. Ultimately, I see only two purposes for this abomination of a product: 1. As a teaching tool for design students to see a very bad design that has somehow become a product2. As an educational tool for the general public to understand that good Revain reviews do not make a good product. At the time of writing, this product has 899 reviews with an average rating of 3.4 stars. I don't understand why anyone rates this thing above the minimum score.
