Review on Sony DVPFX810 8-Inch Portable DVD Player, Black: Experience Unmatched Entertainment on the Go by Rob Allen

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Make no mistake

My rating is based on use of this DVD player by young children (2-5 years). This is my third DVD player for my 3 year old son. Why? you ask, well, you gotta see it that way. Each has its own purpose. I have a 10" JVC for my truck rides, a 6" Phillips from Wall Mart for casual dining, and now I have this Sony for the foldable screen. As he got older, my son started crunching the buttons and opening the compartments on all of our players.. Flipping the screen on this player makes the buttons less visible, so he doesn't fool around with them as much as he does huge. The advantage is that he cannot open the drawer. Battery life far outperforms the other two players, screen quality is much better, and the weight is about the same as the Phillips. I gave 4 stars just because of the sound from the speaker. That's not loud enough to hear on a regular plane, but that's easily overcome with cheap headphones, and the audio is pretty loud from there (there are two headphone jacks). If buying this for your kids I would recommend a quality case with plenty of room for plugs, DVDs etc. Buy the case as soon as you have the player in your hands. I made the mistake of ordering the one suggested on Revain and it was useless.
