Review on 🔧 Enhanced Performance Vantec UGT-ST622 PCIe Host Card with 2 Channels and 4 Ports for SATA 6Gbps Connectivity by Eric Dubreuil

Fails with heavy use in network cards

Vantec 6-Port 4-Lane SATA 6Gb/s PCIe RAID Host Card with HyperDuo Technology (UGT-ST644R). Should it be advertised with 6 ports when only 4 can be used at the same time? It has six slots. TO UPDATE. Now that I've had it for 8 months, I've found that it crashes from time to time during the nightly automatic backup process. The system has 5 drives connected to SATA III connectors on the motherboard and this card is connected to 3 other drives. Sometimes in the morning I find that all 3 Vantec ports are gone - the computer does not indicate at all that they are there, and errors appeared during the backup. When restarting, the ports are displayed again. System – ASUS H170 Pro running Windows 10 Pro. The error occurs when copying zipped files from a drive on a mobile device to a Veracrypt encrypted volume on a Vantec connected drive. The card is configured to use internal connectors, not external connectors. Connected to one of the two PCIe Express 3.0 x16 slots on the mainboard, the ports show up as SCSI ports in the Windows 10 Device Manager. The RAID features didn't interest me and I can't comment on them either. When they work, the Vantec ports appear to be just as fast as the motherboard ports.

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
