Best Brilliant Lamp?

When one of the LEDs in the Lava Vortex failed after just five months, I decided to go the old-fashioned route and ditch the pesky electronics with one of the company's traditional glitters. (I've found that Lava's electronic products don't seem to stand the test of time.) Imagine my displeasure when the traditional lightbulb that was included in this rainbow luster lamp blew out immediately after first use! While I have no doubt that Lava includes a cheap "starter" lamp, I also concluded that Revain's poor packaging work was also a reason for the early failure - there was NO packaging in the shipping carton, which caused it the lava box could slide freely from the box end to end. The shipping box and indeed the top of the lava box opened up during shipping allowing some of the innards to dangle. hide for the amount they kindly made. The problem is solved. I've found that you seem to have to shake this lamp vertically a bit for it to work, despite claims of 'instant action'. Glitter particles like to collect at the top of the bottle and want to be asked to dance. However, once the particles fall down the globe, the lamp becomes a beautiful thing. Multicolored glitter is a great idea: red, green, blue and yellow make the show more interesting. Another reviewer said some of the glitter colors faded over time; I hope this is due to the lamp being in a sunny spot and not the lack of brilliance. I'll let you know when my colors are fading - my lamp is a long way from a sunny window. Finally, like Cinderella, who returns from the ball at midnight, you should NOT leave the lava or glitter lamp on for more than 8 hours at a time (the instructions say 10 is fine, but I'm not saying from personal experience!). If you do this, the lava or glistening flow or eddies will subside or even stop after a few months and you will NOT be a happy tourist. So let's take a look at how this rainbow sparkle lamp performs with careful use. But out of the box and without sunlight (albeit with a bulb change) the lamp is a feast for the eyes. BENEFITS: * Multicolored glitter adds eye catching. * Instant start - well, maybe in a minute or so. * Built-in on-off switch. * No bulky transformer to connect. * Reasonably priced to sparkle when on.* Cannot tolerate direct sunlight.* Run time is limited to 8 hours per day.* Uncertain durability.* Replacement bulbs are expensive - over $4.

Pros
  • Just like everyone else so far
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product
