***UPDATE 7/9/18. While I'm still happy with the product, I noticed a few things. First, on the remote control screen, only the bottom half of the display is clearly visible. A month later it started. Second, the collar has become a bit out of step with weather changes. Heavy rain, clouds and high winds change the collar's response settings by up to 5 feet. The poor thing is sometimes shocked for no reason these days. Third, back then, the dog figured out how to break the line with a strange frequency. Finally, I wish there was a way to amplify the beat through the transmitter. Sometimes he seems weak, and that's why the dog crosses the line. I keep the remote on 5, which is strong enough to correct his behavior. I wonder how much shock he gets from the fence? The remote control and collar will be charged every 3 nights. Worked without such battery failures*** I actually bought 2 more systems because I didn't know this system comes with an exercise console AND a fence. In fact, I saved $80 by switching to this system. Our system has now been up for 3 weeks so I will update the information around June. A little history of my puppy. He's about a year and a half now. Save on computer. 60lbs Lab/Pitt blend. She came to us tender and sweet with very rude manners. Used the toilet in the house, jumped A LOT, ate out of the sink, destroyed common household items, ran like lightning when my kids made room for him in the door, and MY GOD the barking didn't stop. ! We are very responsible owners, same diet/bath/play routine, lots of gum etc. After 4 months he recovered a bit but I was literally distraught. 4 children, youngest toddler (never left alone with her but gently in touch). We have some land anyway, but I didn't know anything about these systems and I started questioning my abilities as a responsible pet owner because Russif was in trouble all along. Let's get back to the product. (Training) Charge the system for 8 hours. It REALLY needs to be charged every third night, but it's not a big deal since I plug my phones and tablets in before bed anyway. I read the training passage in the manual and there was already an improvement in Ruse before I went to bed that night. On the third day he was much more docile, jumping 75% less and not stepping through the wide open front door even with his beloved 8 year old playing in front of him. The barking lasted about a week. Started at level 4, gave 2 chances to vibrate before shock. Yes I'm sorry but the improvement our dog has shown is just wonderful. Now all I have to do is vibrate as a warning and he'll be heels to my feet. I didn't even teach him. To the fence. I spent this distance learning week watching tons of videos, reading blogs and manuals. I can't help but focus on studying and reading the manual. We installed a fence along the property using garden staples and then tested the gate around the entire yard before burying it. My only problem was having to shell out $40 for another roll of 500ft wire for 40ft. It only needed one connection to connect it. Light. Twisting the connector wasn't difficult either. In fact, the only difficult part was burying the fence itself. It wasn't difficult either, it was just exhausting. It took a while because we were using a flat shovel. He dug, I dug, then switched over and over again for about two and a half hours. But it worked. I set the perimeter to 2 feet, which seemed like a lot, except for the back wall of the fence. It worked on the collar at about 6ft, not 2. I lowered it to 1ft and the problem seemed solved. I dropped the flags and started walking the dog all around the perimeter of the fence. It only took two 20-minute sessions for Rus to learn the flags and walk off the leash, bringing sticks with children but not chasing after them, strangers, or animals behind his fence. Sorry for the long review, just wanted to make sure this was detailed and accurate. Overall, my dog is free, my family is happy, and I would spend twice as much time digging the fence for order, obedience, and freedom in our home and family time. I recommend this to everyone in the market.
