We buy a pair of these socks for our kids and they are just as good as the SmartWool socks for adults. It is worth noting that the difference between small and medium is noticeable. My daughter wore a small last year, wore size 8 tennis shoes this winter and Crocs with size 10 Vasque hiking boots. She will be wearing size 11 Keen boots this year so we bought her a medium sock. The small one was quite tight, the middle one was a bit loose. It's good either way, but it's something to watch out for.
