Let me start by saying that this little toy is really nice. It has a system that's housed in that retro TV case. It comes with 2 batteries for the remote control, a charging cable and an AV cable to connect to a big screen. The first impression when switching on is very nicely formatted. It's a splash screen that shows the time and scrolls through different images (an image with a couple at the top looks pretty odd considering all the others are landscape photos). The remotes came with batteries with a fuse link, so it was nice to be able to turn the unit on and start playing right out of the box. The system itself has various emulators. It mainly has NES, SNES, Gameboy (several versions) and a few retro games from systems like Atari and arcade systems. For the most part, there are some very famous games including Street Fighter, Super Mario, Sonic, Toy Story, etc., but there are also very unknown foreign games, so it's just a random combination of items. All titles are not in alphabetical order like other emulators I've worked with. So note that the scrolling isn't in that order and you'll have to go through everything in that particular system list to see if the game fits. . Search is actually there. One thing that happens with the system is that it crashes very easily. For example, scrolling through the titles listed over 1,400 games in the Master Drive folder. Since they aren't in alphabetical order, I had to try to scroll through them a little faster than one by one and the system became unresponsive at all. Pressing Menu or Start does absolutely nothing, so you'll have to turn it off and on again. Also, the buttons can "stick" during gameplay without the controller actually getting stuck. When playing Sonic and Tails in two player mode, Sonic got stuck on spin mode and no pressure on A or B changed this. I had to quit the game to get it working again or die in-game to do this. There are options in the main interface on the welcome screen if you hold down the arrow keys on top of the device to set alarms and timers, but accessing them is so complicated that it wouldn't really be useful. The AV cable doesn't respond at all either. I've tried connecting it to 2 different TVs and although it recognizes that it's connected it doesn't output video or audio to larger TVs so that was a different issue. Desk at work or at home when you want to play retro games. It looks great on my desk at home and is fashionably beautiful. If you want something purely for aesthetics, that's fine. But if you're looking for a solid emulator, this might not be for you as it requires some work. However, since it has an SD card and you are familiar with working emulators, you can still work with it. Still, a fun system to give away.
