I recently bought a Nikon D70 DSLR and needed to transfer a lot of files to my computer. For example from 512 MB to 1 GB. I only shoot in RAW so they fill up. In any case, transferring 512MB from the camera (at USB1 speed) took quite a while, I think it took about 10 minutes or even longer to transfer 512MB. With this Sandisk card reader it is much faster and takes about a minute. It also looks chic; better done than the generic piece of crap my friend got for free (and faster) with the camera he bought. There aren't many features in something like this, but it does have a nice green light that lights up when the card is inserted. No installation was required on Windows XP; I just plugged it in and right away I had an extra removable drive in My Computer, which I then set up to automatically open in an explorer window when a CF card was inserted. Quite easy. For reference, I'm using Sandisk Ultra II CF cards with it.
