The Chase Harper USA 3550 Aeropac II saddlebags are more spacious than most hard leather bags, each bag holds 20 liters. This is partly due to their rectangular shape rather than the slanted shape of most bags. And although the bags are made from ballistic nylon, each bag has a thermoplastic insert that makes the bags strong with a hard bottom and keeps the shape of the bag intact. Made from ballistic nylon, they are durable and will last for years. They are waterproof but will require a waterproof case (which unfortunately isn't included) in heavy rain. They are easy to put on and take off which I appreciate as I only use them when I need to travel or shop (my 51L rear top case is always on and fits most needs). The welt strips glow brightly. They also have front and back straps with buckles to secure bags and allow for quick bag removal. The top opening has double zips that allow for a small luggage lock to secure your belongings. Velcro straps over the fenders keep bags secure without worrying about them coming loose. Some reviewers note that their bags are faded/discolored, but this is easily remedied with products like Rits Back-To-Black Paint. Yes, they're not as stylish as leather saddlebags; On the other hand, they are [1] much cheaper, [2] hold more than most other saddlebags, [3] are noticeably lighter, and [4] can be quickly removed and secured in a motel room, etc. well worth the price.
