Review on πŸ“ž Enhanced Grandstream GXV3380 Android VOIP Video Phone by Angie Gonzalez

This phone is a beast!

Grandstream's latest flagship model gives you a reason to get back into your desk phone craze. It has an elegant design and is equipped with an Intel Z8350 quad-core processor with 2 GB of RAM that is up to any task. In testing, it had no problem decoding any type of media, including 4k videos. Impressive! The large IPS screen has an excellent 1300:1 contrast ratio and is great for running your Andorid apps. It's basically a cross between a desktop phone and a tablet. After installing the Google Play Store, I had no trouble running the Duo, Voice, and Nest Cam apps. Keep an eye on my security cameras. I was able to connect my cell phone via Bluetooth (in hands-free mode - the Grandstream behaves like a PC) and can use it to make and receive calls while it's charging in another room. Smooth! My Bluetooth headset also works (with speakerphone off). As for VoIP, it worked correctly with the providers I tried - voip.ms and CallCentric - as well as my ATA connecting it to the landline via the FXO port. I was also able to test the codecs G.722 and Opus HD Voice. and they definitely sound better than standard phone audio, although not quite up to the latest VoIP standards. While speakers and microphones have a wide frequency response, the phone's SIP Invite artificially limits audio to just broadband (16kHz sampling rate). Contrary to the description, super wide band and full band (48 kHz) are not implemented. I'm hoping Grandstream will consider adding these modes with a firmware update as the hardware supports them and they become commonplace in the latest softphones. The handheld microphone is somewhat sensitive to explosive sounds (ie hold it directly in your mouth when speaking). But the ergonomics are great: the phone has a good weight and balance, the cord is a good length. It definitely feels like executive class. The speakerphone works well too. Later, a year after the release, there are still a few small firmware bugs, but nothing prevents the phone from performing its daily tasks. I highly recommend it if you're looking for a quality desktop VoIP model sure to impress!
