It is very difficult to measure something like this and I would say it is a much larger lantern with a much longer gooseneck than I expected. This turns out to be a very good thing, as it looks more like a decent desk lamp than a fancy little USB light that plugs into the side of your laptop. You can raise the light to illuminate more of your work area than you would expect, and it dims and brightens nicely just by holding down the switch at the bottom. It doesn't get insanely bright, but it gets as bright as you'd expect. eyes if you position it the way most people will use it. The only downside is that if you're planning on traveling with it or tossing it in your backpack, it's going to be a bit larger than you probably expected. But since everything is very thin, it should still be fairly easy to pack. They're very specific about how long it will last, but it's cheap enough that if it dies you can easily replace it.
