Great item. I don't know what type of carpet I have, but it's the type of low pile that's commonly used on the three flights of stairs outside my apartment. I haven't had any animal messes, but I've used it against regular dirt and the occasional stain (including detergent spills) that has built up over the past 4 years with a cheap cleaning brush from WMart and I haven't had to scrub very hard. . I had to put more effort into the darker areas but it upgraded everything and made it look like a professional cleaning (due to COVID I didn't want to bother with calling anyone). It has a nice scent that doesn't feel artificial or overpowering, I wasn't wearing gloves and it didn't hurt my hands. Overall I recommend this if you have a carpet that needs cleaning! These are good things with no bad smell or bad things! I'm pleasantly surprised!
