I hooked this up to a brand new 12v battery. lead-acid battery. He charged it and a few days later I found that the new battery was dead and the charger wouldn't charge it. I tried the charger with another battery and it didn't charge that battery either. This led to me finding a 40 year old Schumacher charger in the attic that my father gave me. I cleaned it, plugged it in and it charged both batteries perfectly. Amazing that you have to resort to antiques to charge a simple battery. It is also surprising that Schumacher no longer makes a reliable charger. The reason for buying a new charger was that I don't want to use old electronic devices. Such a shame.
