However, this review is quite confusing as 6 people found it useful, I'll just add to it what is supposed to be the latest : 11-29-17 Da I sent back the last two I received (see reviews below if interested), I still needed a vise. However, as the 5 inch vise sold for $105.86 and the cheapest port freight vise is $30 (also used vise on Craigslist is over $100). I went ahead and bought Yost fsv-5 for $105.86. I received it yesterday 11/28/17 and here are my first impressions. Overall it looks and feels like a good vise. Very hard and durable. The swivel base is very large compared to the jaws of the vise and the assembly itself. The work of the thread when adjusting the tension is also very easy. However, there are a few issues as was the case with both fsv-6 vises I received. Jaws are fully in contact with each other - the leftmost jaws are almost fully in contact with each other - the rightmost jaws, even when firmly pressed together, do not make full contact. So all in all 4 STAR Yost FSV-5** previous fsv-6 review below** 2 stars (8-18-17) 2 stars (8-20-17) see update below 8-18-17 First I expect exchange this sunday Set up a reverse exchange today, Friday. REVIEW (Yost FSV-6) 8-18-172 stars The vise I received had several problems.1. Jaws not aligned evenly2. The jaws (a bolt on one part of the jaw) were bent - the center was in contact with the other jaw - there was a gap in the two outermost parts large enough to insert a piece of paper into the jaws of the vise. 3. The Back On the side of the vise where the bolt is, the bolt was being tightened from center - I mean when you turn the crank to apply pressure - that bolt was far from center, rear view4 . When it comes down to it in the end, the vise was completely oiled on all surfaces and the red paint turned black from the TBH deep lube, the vise I received was far from the quality I expected after I had read so many reviews and videos on YouTube. Big disappointment, I've set up an exchange, if the replacement I get isn't at least close to the YouTube video ratings and/or Revain reviews I'll refund the money and buy a forged steel Capri Tools vise that will very similar to the Yost is a forged steel vise. advertised specifications have a higher strength rating. I will update after receiving a replacement. I just can't believe the quality I received was of such poor quality. UPDATE 8-20-173 stars I just received my replacement about 30 minutes ago. Out of the box and a HUGE IMPROVEMENT. The jaws align much more evenly now (though if you look closely from a bird's-eye view, the very small gaps between the extreme ends of the two sides of the jaws and the center are annoying). When fully closed, if you look straight down you can see light coming through the jaws between the dead center of the jaws and either end. Not very big, but definitely there. Again, the last vise before replacement was much worse. Not sure why that is. However, this replacement vise is a huge improvement. still not that accurate. TBH discusses returns and instead purchases the Capri Tools forged steel vise - for about the same price. The clamping mechanism is also closer to dead center this time. Again, the original part was off-center before the replacement. A major improvement is still not "in place”. CONS (minor) Paint chipping in several places Again very small gaps in the middle two parts of the jaws One jaw is slightly curved at one end but still flush with the non-moving jaw. Overall 2 Stars 5 STARS BEFORE AMAZON CUSTOMER SERVICE. REP. DANIEL M. (previous two Amazon reps were useless) DANIEL M. GO UP FOR ME UP UP. Daniel M is the reason I keep coming back to Revain. The last two iterations along with a few other recent events have made me cringe at Revain. Definitely a change for the worse in customer service. HELLO TO DANIEL MKUDOS AMAZON FOR HIS REGISTRATION! Many thanks to Daniel M. for a very quick replacement. Amazing customer service. The return started on Friday 08/18/17 (third time on this order) and received a replacement on 08/20/17 (again thanks to Revain rep Daniel M.). Final thought - I'm not sure I would recommend this vise to anyone on the market. for a vice. It is an inexpensive, durable and industrial grade material. Should last a lifetime. Looks good but workmanship is sloppy. **LAST UPDATE** 9-4-172 STARS Set return to second vise. I just can't get over the fact that the jaws still have a gap on either side. I paid over $200 for the jaws to fit perfectly. The "dynamic jaw" (moving jaw) has a crown/arch. It's just general poor workmanship. Now I'm going to try the Capri Tools 6" Forged Steel Vise instead. The TBH Capri Tools Forged Steel Vise looks almost exactly like the Yost Forged Steel Vise, except Capri Tools is blue and has an extra piece of metal protruding from the anvil. Both are made in Taiwan. I assume it's the same manufacturer who will ask why they should buy it then. you just have to try. After purchasing the Capri Tools Forged Steel Vise I will update this review and let anyone interested know how it was. Yost FSV-62 stars
