Review on APC Protection SurgeArrest Performance P11VNT3 by Julio Montano

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Just a month after purchase and it has already paid for itself.

What made me purchase this product was a lightning strike that burned thousands of dollars worth of equipment. Technically, my ISP was hit and the surge went down the DSL phone line to my modem, then to my router, then to my wired camera system, and then through an HDMI NVR cable (among other things) to my TV. Apparently I had no protection on the DSL line at that moment. When I was looking for a replacement surge protector, I bought one with DSL/phone protection. A month later I was beaten again. The same scenario where my ISP was attacked and broke into my house. This time, however, APC protected the DSL line. It roasted the DSL part of the network filter, but that was it. Otherwise nothing was damaged. So the $28 purchase saved thousands of dollars on new hardware, but it gets even better. After asking a question about resetting my DSL/phone, I received a response that pointed out APC's lifetime warranty. So I called APC and they sent me a brand new replacement, even though the surge protector did exactly what it was supposed to do: sacrifice itself to protect everything else. protection and support. Great job APC. They are now officially my brand of surge protectors. UPDATE: I've been so impressed with my experience so far that I've bought a second one to protect other devices. I didn't need the DSL part, but I got it anyway in case my replacement burned out again and I needed something before the replacement came. Of course my ISP got hit again and grilled the DSL part of APC. Everything else was fine. I called APC and they again sent me a replacement. I couldn't be more impressed with the company or the product. Now if I could get my ISP to install a lightning rod or something so they don't get hurt.
